What to consider when renting a car in MenorcaMarch 17, 2020
Although Menorca is known to be an island paradise, it has much more to offer than sun and beach. You can go trekking on the Camino de Caballos, visit the old town of Mahon, dive in the Marine Reserve, visit the Castle of San Nicolas and tour the Minorcan villages.
To enjoy Menorca and all the beautiful places that exist throughout the territory is impossible on foot, so a vehicle is necessary. Bear in mind the following tips when you rent one:
The fee to be paid will vary according to your age
Although it may seem discriminatory, most agencies believe that maturity and a sense of responsibility are closely linked to a person’s years. Because of this, companies have a range of prices that depend on the age of the driver. Do not take as a reference the amount paid by one of your parents or uncles a few months ago because it is probably not the same as the amount charged to you.
You should ask about the fuel policy
There are two fueling policies: full tank or prepaid. If you car hire Menorca with the first method, it will be delivered to you with a full tank of gas, and you will have to return it the same way. On the other hand, if you rent with prepaid fuel, you must pay for the fuel in the tank at the time the car is delivered to you. When you return it, you will be refunded the equivalent of the unused fuel. Whenever you have a choice, opt for the first option that is more reliable.
Not all companies offer One Way returns
Before you book a vehicle, ask what the conditions are for its return. Do you have to deliver it to the same place you picked it up? Can you return it to another office? Do you have a car park where you can leave it? If the company offers a One Way service, you can return the car in a different place than the one you picked it up. Still, generally you will have to pay a higher value since you will be charged the cost of a driver who will travel to the place to drive the car to the headquarters.
You can rent with or without a franchise
If you rent a vehicle and you have an accident, you will have to respond with your patrimony until covering the agreed amount. On the other hand, if you signed a contract without an excess, better known as a full coverage, the company will take care of the repair costs of the vehicle in case of an accident.
